Kansas leaning on Reesing

The Kansas Jayhawks aren’t picked among this year’s contenders for a BCS bowl after a disappointing 2008 season.

Most polls show the Jayhawks just outside of the top 25, so they should be at least in the conversation when it comes to the Big 12’s North division champion.

The Jayhawks will once again lean on quarterback Todd Reesing, a potential sleeper in the Heisman Trophy race.

The senior has helped to put Kansas football back on the map and divert some attention away from the school’s beloved basketball program.

Now Reesing just needs a little help from the defense, which has been the team’s downfall when it has knocked boots with the country’s top programs.

Henry Brothers Arrive in Lawrence

After a summer’s worth of waiting, brothers C.J. and Xavier Henry arrived on the campus of Kansas this week with Kansas’ championship aspirations in mind.

C.J. Henry is a 6′4″ player who originally commited to Kansas in 2005, before playing baseball in the minors with the Yankees for the last four years instead of pursuing his basketball career.  Now, with brother Xavier a rising freshman, the Henry brothers wanted an opportunity to play basketball together.

When Memphis coach John Calipari left Memphis for Kentucky earlier this year, the Henry brothers decommited from Memphis, opening recruiting up to Kansas and Kentucky as well.  Eventually, the brothers decided on signing with the Jayhawks; their parents were both varsity athletes with the Jayhawks during their time in college.

Xavier is already projected to be a starter, as a 6′6″ versatile weapon that projects as a probable one-and-done.  Along with Cole Aldrich and Sherron Collins, Kansas arguably has the best “Big Three” - a concept that’s become huge in the NBA in the past 10 years - in the NCAA this year.
