The undefeated No. 17 Kansas Jayhawks were stunned by the struggling Colorado Buffaloes, 34-30.
Kansas surrendered 24 second quarter points to go into halftime trailing Colorado by two touchdowns.
They rallied back in the second half, but a hail mary into the end zone as time expired fell incomplete.
Any road game is tough, especially when it involves conference foes, but the Buffaloes were really struggling.
In fact, the win may end up saving head coach Dan Hawkins his job, which has been under fire for months.

Kansas struggled early to stop Iowa State quarterback Austen Arnaud, falling behind 12-6 (with three missed extra points), but the Jayhawks righted the ship in the second quarter. The defense, that had let Arnaud convert long third down after long third down, finally put together a string of stops. And that has given Kansas QB Todd Reesing all the opportunities he’s needed, leading the offense on two straight touchdown drives to build a 20-12 lead at the half.
Kerry Meier has been the story thus far, though. The star tight end has 11 catches in the first half alone. The Cyclones defense has tried to key on him, but it hasn’t mattered. He continues to get open, and Reesing continues to hit him.
Watch out for wide receiver Dezmond Briscoe to break the game open in the second half as Iowa State continues to roll covered Meier’s way. But the Kansas defense needs to slow down the Cyclones running game, something it didn’t do in a poor first quarter.

The trouble keeps rolling in for the Jayhawks, who were going into the season as the probable preseason #1.
Kansas junior guard Brady Morningstar was suspended from first-semester games after being arrested early Saturday on suspicion of driving under the influence.
Morningstar was stopped on the Kansas Turnpike near the East Lawrence interchange, according to Kansas Turnpike spokeswoman Lisa Callahan.
Kansas police arrested him and booked him into the Douglas County Jail; he has since been released on $250 bail.
With thoughts of Tyshawn Taylor’s dislocated thumb and the brawls surrounding the men’s basketball program, coach Bill Self has put much more stringent rules in place for the team.
“Regardless of the details that concern the reason for him being stopped, he broke team rules that have been much more stringent since last week. Brady was in serious violation of curfew,” Self said. “We will support him through this, but needless to say I am very disappointed in the sequence of events that took place last night.”

According to Kansas University police Maj. Chris Keary, a disorderly conduct investigation has begun in regards to the fight that occurred between members of the men’s basketball team and football team on September 22. In the fight, basketball player Tyshawn Taylor dislocated his thumb, which will keep him sidelined for a month.
Once the KU police file the report, they will forward it to local prosecutors who will determine whether charges will be pressed.
“We have enough information to write up an incident report,” Keary said, according to the report.
Initially, police said the fight was not being investigated as a crime. It was the first of at least two fights between the two high-profile sports teams on campus, possibly involving upwards of 100 people.
Taylor was injured throwing a punch, reportedly.
