Selby picks Kansas

Baltimore high school star guard Josh Selby has decided that he will play his college basketball for Bill Self and the Kansas Jayhawks.

The guard said he felt playing for Kansas would be the best way for him to become a better basketball player and to mature on and off the court.

The Arizona Wildcats, Kentucky Wildcats, Connecticut Huskies and Tennessee Volunteers were among the other teams in the running for Selby’s services.

Selby will be counted upon to replace senior star Sherron Collins, who helped lead Kansas to a national championship and finished his career with more wins than any other play in Jayhawks history.

The guard will not only bring an ability to attack the basket and knock down open shots, but also a toughness that he will help instill in his new team.

Henry turning pro

Kansas Jayhawks freshman forward Xavier Henry has declared himself for the NBA Draft.

Henry was one of the top rated recruits coming into his freshman season and was surrounded by a lot of hype.

He got off to a very slow start that made many wonder if he was the player that everyone thought he was.

Henry eventually got going and improved greatly over the course of the season, becoming one of the team’s top players.

He is expected to be a late lottery pick or possibly go in the middle of the first round of the draft.

Aldrich declares for draft

Kansas center Cole Aldrich has announced his intentions to declare for the NBA Draft.

Aldrich, a junior, considered coming out last year before deciding it would be better for him to return to school.

He is expected to be a high first-round pick despite a rather disappointing performance in the NCAA tournament.

Aldrich’s father has been out of work because of the recession, making it an easy decision to head to the NBA.

Head coach Bill Self said he would strongly discourage Aldrich from returning for his senior season.
